Each week I spend a good chunk of time doomscrolling social media and reading articles to find the best fishing videos and stories posted recently.

I don't just look for what got the most views, likes, or shares in any given week.

Instead, I try to find those hidden gems that are popular, but aren't getting as much love as I think they deserve.

This week, I found these three videos and a story that I absolutely think are worth your time to check out!

Deer Can Replace Your Forward Facing Sonar (Yes I'm Serious)

Kaden Buchmann just won the first Bassmaster Elite Qualifier on Norfolk Lake using a pretty unusual approach. This event banned the use of forward-facing sonar, making all the competitors go back to their roots in figuring out where the fish are.

Kaden decided to use a unique strategy (and it paid off big time for him).

Instead of just guessing, he would watch the bank, looking for deer. If there were deer, chances are nobody had fished the area yet, and it was the perfect place for him to land some bass.

I’ve noticed that sometimes when you go fishing it’s just meant to be, and this fish from @mikeybalzz proves it. Check out the massive bass that made his entire year, and that I’m totally not jealous of.

When I saw this video from @mofishingfam I could feel the pain that little dude felt about not being able to drop a line on those catfish. It’s tough to see so many stacked up like this and not be allowed to try to land one.

I know it’s not time yet, but ice fishing season is right around the corner. Watching @larrysmithoutdoors pull this 32” walleye through the ice got me excited. My best on the hardwater was 28”, so I can only imagine what it’s like to get one like this.
