The superbowl matchup has finally been set. Between the lines of the gridiron, they'll figure out which is the better football team. Here on the MTB Blog, we'll find out the more important issue: Which of these two cities has better fishing? Last year the Superbowl fishing showdown came down to Carolina vs Denver, with Charlotte taking the slight edge, 52% to 48%. This year, we put one of the great East Coast cities, Boston, against one of the titans of the south in Atlanta. Both of these cities have great fishing options, with Boston offering some of the best Atlantic Ocean fishing in the country while Atlanta boasts the obvious advantage of being from the south where the fish grow to be as big as the offensive line on either team. We have broken this competition down into 3 categories, and set it up for our followers to vote at the end on which city they think takes the crown as Superbowl champion (of fishing).[socialpoll id="2417264"]

OVERVIEW

ATLANTA

https://www.instagram.com/p/BOtMUHSAgRC/Atlanta is home to The Chatahoochee River, one of the best places to find trout due to its clean, cold water dammed right there in the city. Outside of the city a tad, their claim to fame is Lake Lanier. Lake Lanier is one of the best bass fishing lakes in the country, with largemouth, striped, and spotted bass all in abundance year round. If you're not hunting bass, there are also plenty of spots to catch walleye and bluegill, if you know where to look. Luke Bryan, Georgia native and singer of one of the greatest fishing songs of all time, definitely vouches for the abundance of fishing spots in his home state.

BOSTON

https://www.instagram.com/p/9RprPvruQf/Boston's obviously one of the best places to eat seafood in the entire country, obvious because of the fact we all know how everyone there pronounces "chowder." With that amount of fresh catch available daily, there are tons of options for saltwater fishing in the harbors all along the bay. For freshwater, the Charles River is your best bet at chasing some bass right in the city limits, while the Wachusett Reservoir nearby has also been responsible for countless Massachusetts lunkers, as well as a few state records!
