A 111 Pound Blue Catfish Obliterates The Georgia State Record

A massive, enormous, gigantic 111-pound blue catfish just set the Georgia state record. Tim Trone of Havana, Florida, used cut bream on his Santee Cooper rig when the record-setting fish tugged on his line. The monster catfish measured 58 inches and was caught while tournament fishing on October 17th, 2020 on the Chattahoochee River.

Did you know there is a tie for the Georgia State record flathead catfish? Weighing 83lbs, two anglers caught the same size flathead from the Altamaha River. First, in 2006 and then again in 2010, both fish from the same river. It isn't very likely, but it made me wonder, is this the same fish? Could it be a catfish so health-conscious that it's been able to maintain its target weight of 83lbs through the years?

The 38 Pound Musky Pulled From Blue Ridge Lake

In 1957, a guy named Rube Golden pulled a whopping 38-pound musky from the 3,300 acre Blue Ridge Lake. A fish that massive has to measure close to 50 inches, which is just insanely large. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem like a strong musky population is still around in Blue Ridge Lake, but I hope I'm wrong!
